Feel the rhythm of some of New York City's hottest Latin bands as the High Line is transformed into an epic dance floor for our annual series. Grab your friends and get ready to dance.

Founded by Pablo Mayor, this powerhouse orchestra combines cumbia and jazz to create an irresistibly modern groove. Highlighting Folklore Urbano's new "El Barrio Project," this evening's concert will feature a mix of salsa music and Colombian rhythms in a cross-cultural exploration of the unique sounds arising from New York City's neighborhoods, from Jackson Heights to Spanish Harlem, where salsa was born.

Join us at 6 PM for a dance lesson with Milteri Tucker Concepcion of Bombazo Dance Company, or come early for a drink at Terroir and a killer sunset view.

UPCOMING ¡ARRIBA! DATES

August 2: Williamsburg Salsa Orchestra

ABOUT THE ARTISTS

Folklore Urbano Orchestra is the innovative project of Colombian bandleader, pianist, composer, and arranger Pablo Mayor. This powerhouse orchestra seamlessly fuses the danceable swing of traditional Colombian rhythms with the lush subtleties of contemporary jazz harmonies. The ensemble is driven by a rhythm section deeply grounded in traditional Colombian music. Like a feisty chef, leader Pablo Mayor then adds explosive horns and soaring, colorful vocalists to produce a tasty, sultry, addictive blend. Featuring the stunning ALEA on vocals and an ensemble of world-renowned jazz and traditional musicians.

Milteri Tucker Concepcion is a Puerto Rican professional dancer, choreographer, dance educator, and scholar. As the founder and artistic director of Bombazo Dance Company, she has performed with salsa legends Larry Harlow and Orchestra, Grammy Award-winner Arturo O'Farrill, Pete Rodriguez, and, at the 2013 Latin Billboard Awards, pop sensation Don Omar.
