High Line Food

Friends of the High Line is committed to working with entrepreneurial food partners whose products are good for the people eating the food, good for those who grow it, and good for the land. Food is one of our best connections to community and to the environment, and through it, we aim to connect visitors to one another and the land. For more information, please contact food@thehighline.org. If you are a chef or restaurateur and create food that is as thoughtful, creative, and interesting as the High Line itself and would like to partner with Friends of the High Line, click here for our current request for proposals for food on the High Line and offers for the restaurant under the High Line.

The 2011 season for High Line Food has officially ended as of December 18, 2011.

Here at the office we are excitedly planning for the 2012 season and look forward to the return of our sweet vendors in addition to some new savory food partners in Chelsea Market Passage. Stay tuned for updates on who will be joining us on the High Line!

SOCIAL SOUP EXPERIMENT – October 22, 2011
What happens when hundreds of people gather for a one-pot meal at a communal table in a restaurant without walls placed on the High Line?

An amazing chance to eat affordable, delicious food, get to know your neighbors from around the city, and experience a fall day like no other on the High Line. This special opportunity came about with help from Eater.com, Edible Manhattan, Slow Food, The Green Table, and Hot Bread Kitchen. The soup itself was a hearty bean and farro soup, prepared by Chef Mona Talbott, using ingredients from New York State farms and served alla Romana with spicy olive oil. PLAY WITH YOUR FOOD – Wednesdays in September 2011
The only thing better than eating great food is knowing how to make it yourself. In this spirit, the High Line offered young visitors the chance to see how some beloved snacks come together. High Line food partners La Newyorkina, Melt Bakery, People’s Pops, and The Green Table created healthy snacks with local children and shared food tips and tricks from their chefs. The Children’s Workyard Kit was also available for kids to build their own vision with real lumber planks, specially-designed nuts and bolts, and simple tools and materials.
