High Line Ranger

Reporting to the Visitor Services Manager, the Ranger is responsible in serving a role as a primary and visible FHL ambassador and safety representative to the public by informing park visitors of amenities and programs, gauging the public’s opinions and interests, and serving as the eyes and ears for the park’s condition and environment. This is a part-time, seasonal position that requires working outdoors in all weather conditions on evenings and weekends, from late April through the fall.

Seasonal On-Site Associate

Reporting to the On-Site Coordinator, the Associates will serve as the primary fundraising and sales team on the High Line. Responsibilities will include soliciting membership sales, selling High Line branded merchandise, fielding inquiries from park visitors, and executing varied and creative promotional activities.

Associate Supervisor, Seasonal On-Site Program

Reporting to the On-Site Coordinator, the two Associate Supervisors will supervise the staff of Seasonal On-Site Associates at FHL’s membership and merchandise kiosks on the High Line. Responsibilities will include soliciting membership sales, selling High Line branded merchandise, fielding inquiries from park visitors, and executing varied and creative promotional activities. The Associate Supervisors will ensure all policies, procedures, and controls are followed and will aid in the planning, organizing, and delegating of work among staff.

Community Engagement Manager

Reporting to the Director of Public Programs, Education, & Community Engagement, the Community Engagement Manager is primarily responsible for the implementation and evaluation of Friend of the High Line’s community engagement activities, which include public programs, community meetings and public gatherings, internships, employment recruitment, and more.

Gardener

Reporting to the Vice President of Park Operations and the Horticulture Foreman, the Gardener will be responsible for the year-round care and maintenance of the High Line’s landscape and grounds. Working interactively with a team of gardeners, custodians, maintenance technicians and High Line administrators, the Gardener’s responsibilities will include all aspects of monitoring, caring for, and reporting on designated park zones, including diverse plantings, hardscape elements, and public use of the park.

Schools Program Per-Diem Educator

This position is seasonal, running from March through June 2012 and continuing in September through November 2012, with the possibility of additional hours over the summer. The Schools Program Per-Diem Educator will conduct field trips with grades 2 – 7 on the High Line beginning in spring 2012, leading a maximum of six, 70-minute field trips a week with a paid 30-minute break between sessions.
